What is Agarwood

Agarwood, also known as oud, aloeswood, or gaharu, is a dark resinous heartwood that forms in Aquilaria trees when they become infected with a specific type of mold (Phialophora parasitica). This infection causes the tree to produce a dark aromatic resin in response to the attack.

The resin-embedded heartwood is valued in many cultures for its distinctive fragrance and is used in incense, perfume, and traditional medicine. High-quality agarwood is one of the most expensive natural raw materials in the world.
