What is Agarwood?

Agarwood, also known as oud, aloeswood, or gaharu, is a dark resinous heartwood that forms in Aquilaria trees when they become infected with a specific mold (Phialophora parasitica). This infection causes the tree to produce a dark aromatic resin in response to the attack.

The resin-embedded heartwood is prized across many cultures for its distinctive, complex fragrance and is used in incense, perfume, and traditional medicine. High-quality agarwood is one of the most expensive natural raw materials in the world.

Our plantation in Brooke's Point, Palawan cultivates genuine Aquilaria Malaccensis — the premium species — under full DENR authorization, ensuring every gram we produce is legal, traceable, and sustainably sourced.

Agarwood Chips

The Valuable Result of Resin Formation

Agarwood chips are small pieces of resin-infused wood harvested from Aquilaria trees after the successful formation of aromatic resin. These chips represent one of the most recognized and sought-after forms of agarwood worldwide.

The quality and value of agarwood chips depend largely on the concentration of resin present within the wood. As resin content increases, the wood becomes darker, denser, and more fragrant, producing the distinctive aroma that has made agarwood highly prized for centuries.
